Eastern Ocean Tankers Limited  - Previously known as The Hong Kong and Eastern Shipping Company Limited (HESCO)

Eastern Ocean Tankers Limited  - began in 1946 as the Hong Kong and Eastern Shipping Company Limited (Hong Kong Company Number 0001826) or HESCO. The company was formed to act as the shipping and trading subsidiary of Messrs Scott & English Ltd, a Singapore based trading house established in 1940. Hong Kong and Eastern Shipping Company Limited initially used chartered in tonnage to ship cargoes of timber, coal and iron ore before progressing into the developing crude oil markets. In 1972 Scott and English Ltd sold 50%  of  Hong Kong and Eastern Shipping Company Limited formed a joint venture with Eastern Overseas Shipholdings Limited and the company was renamed Eastern Ocean Tankers Ltd.  The full historical background of the company is available elsewhere on this website.
